6 Tips For A Healthy Work/Life Balance

Balancing your professional life and your personal life isn’t an easy task. In a world where we use technology and social media on a daily basis 24/7, it’s difficult to find that sweet escape. Finding a healthy work/life balance is achievable and we can show you how!

Here are a few tips on what you can do to help boost your well-being and achieve a great work-life balance.

1. Use Your Annual Leave!

We all need a break away at some point. When you take a holiday, view it as a necessity rather than a luxury. It’s great to recharge your batteries and come back to work refreshed and revitalised. You will find that your productivity and focus will have increased on your welcomed return back to work. Ensure you use all your annual leave – it’s there for a reason.

2. Make Sure You Feedback To Your Employer!

Everyone will have a different approach to what will help them achieve a healthy work/life balance. For employers, receiving feedback from employees will be a massive help to how they think/feel about the situation and how it can be improved. Regular meetings and discussions are key to understanding what exactly an employee is needing and an opportunity for you to share your ideas for improvements with your employer.

3. Have A Break!

If we stare at our screens for too long, it doesn’t do our minds the power of good. As a result, make sure you are taking short breaks and having some downtime while working on tasks. If there’s is space in your company, suggest creating a social area where employees can enjoy a moment away from documents and spreadsheets.

4. Flexible Working Hours!

Having engagement with your employer and having the right communication means that working hours which are suited to you (start time and end time) could be helpful to your work/life balance. Something along the lines of a 4 day week or working from home one day a week could be beneficial to employer and employee.

5. Take Time Off!

When you work long hours, it takes you away from the most important priorities in your life. In the UK alone, work related stress costs us 10.4 million working days per year. Use your time off as your time off. Enjoy what you do with loved ones and remember to make YOU time.

6. Good Mental Health At Work!

Employers should also be able to spot stress and how it’s affecting an employee. Take advantage of relaxation classes and Mindfulness Moments offered by your employer in the workplace – work is vital, but your mental health is more important!
