North America Oil & Gas Salaries Update
The fall in oil prices in 2015 had an impact on global oil & gas salaries in 2015, with the average global oil & gas salary decreasing by 1.4% (compared to a 1.3% decrease in 2014), from 2015’s average salary of $82,141 US, with a global local talent average of US$68,400 and an expat talent average of US$98,200.
In North America oil & gas salaries still remained much higher than global averages and European salaries in 2015;
North America Oil & Gas Contractor Day Rates
Contractor day rates globally fell in line with permanent salaries in 2015. There was a decline in the use of high-cost expat contractors, although oil & gas companies continued to use local contractors when specific skills or knowledge were required. The move to using local contractors resulted in a slight decline in overall contracting day rates.The average contractor day rate globally in 2015 was US$525. In 2015 North America contractor rates also declined on 2014 rates
Benefits Received by North America Oil & Gas Employees
Top benefits received by North America oil & gas employees were similar to 2014 with health plans still top (49% of those surveyed), bonuses second at 39%, followed by Retirement planning (37%), Training (29%), Paid overtime (21%) and No benefits (25%). Bonuses remained the top benefit received in Europe at 34%

Skills shortages still remained the top concern of oil & gas employers in North America in 2015;
- Skills shortages (43% of employers surveyed)
- Economic Stability (19%)
- Environmental concerns (13%)
- Safety regulations (7%)
- Immigration/visa (6%)
