ADIPEC 2016 – Embracing A New Energy Landscape
As Ten Live are one of Scotland’s most successful independent recruiters for oil and gas jobs, we’ve been keeping our finger on the pulse of what’s happening within the energy sector. The largest oil and gas event in the region, with over 700 expert speakers and over 8,500 attendees expected, ADIPEC 2016 (the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference) was the place to be last week to hear about the latest developments in the global energy industry. In an industry undergoing such a rate of change we relish identifying new opportunities and creating innovative recruitment solutions for our clients and candidates!
This year’s theme for ADIPEC 2016 is ‘Strategies for the New Energy Landscape’. It’s clear that the low oil price continues to present major challenges for the industry. The key to sustaining the industry going forward will be to become efficient to drive down the cost of supply, technology and innovation, and relationships. The ideas of greater industry collaboration and an increased focus on operational efficiency are not new to the oil and gas industry, but the impetus to embrace this change is more pressing than ever.
The Middle East and Energy
With around 10% of oil & gas reserves in the world located in the UAE it is no surprise there has been a constant shift of focus to The Middle East. As BP’s CEO said:
“As a supplier of around a third of the world’s oil and a fifth of the world’s natural gas, this region [the Middle East] has an important part to play.” – BP’s CEO
Current areas of opportunity include Abu Dhabi onshore & offshore, Egypt natural gas, Iraq oil, Kuwait oil, Oman natural gas. TenLive have always been committed to supporting clients based in the Middle East and our in-depth knowledge of the oil and gas industry has helped us to build fantastic relationships with those companies. In this time of growth we hope to offer even more support including recruitment for oil and gas jobs.
Energy Transition
What is also clear from ADIPEC 2016 is that the industry will now undergo a ‘period of energy transition’. This means a range of different fuels will be needed to meet demand affordably and sustainably, including natural gases and renewables, over a longer period of time. Oil & gas companies will now have to refocus their strategies and plans to meet this fast pace of constant change in the energy world.
