Qatar Expressway Programme 2017 Update
Ashghal is the Public Works Authority of Qatar established in 2004 as an autonomous body to design, deliver and manage all infrastructure related projects and public amenities and is responsible for the design, construction, delivery and maintenance of all expressways and major roads that cater to current and future traffic demands in Qatar.
What is the Qatar Expressway Programme?
The Qatar Expressway Programme is one of the world’s largest road and transport infrastructure projects launched in 2010 and managed by Ashghal. The Programme is designed to create a strategic and well-coordinated network of roads to support the goals of Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and for the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar
Qatar’s entire network of expressways, highways and local roads has been reviewed as part of this Programme which will provide vital transportation links across Qatar connecting key cities, towns and villages with high-quality national freeways and urban arterial routes.
It will deliver 50 major projects including over 900 km of new roads, underpasses, 348 bridges, flyovers and 240 multi-level interchanges to ease traffic congestion and enable free-flowing traffic and improved journey times.
